Boris Johnson accuses Met of playing politics over Israel ‘war crimes’
Boris Johnson has accused the Metropolitan Police of “politicisation” for investigating alleged war crimes in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Scotland Yard’s counterterrorism command have been appealing at British airports for witnesses to any crimes against humanity.
The move, as people return to the UK from the conflict zone and which is being led by the force’s war crimes team, is part of Britain’s commitment to support an investigation into Israel that was started in 2019 by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The Met said British police had a “responsibility to support” the ICC and that this now also involved examining events in the region since the Israel-Hamas war broke out after the October 7 massacre by Hamas. This includes alleged crimes by the Israel
