In front of me the gigantic iPad-like screen has just rotated into portrait mode and now, somewhat ominously, the car is chatting to me.

Well, more accurately, responding to my requests. Too warm? Tell it to drop the temperature, obviously. “Alright,” comes the reply. “I’ll turn the temperature down by three degrees.” Want the sunroof open? Just ask.
