Initial orders for an all-electric 4×4, the first car manufactured in Scotland for more than 40 years, have topped £50 million and brought interest from around the world.

Munro, founded in 2019, has developed a vehicle for use in tough environments and is targeting areas such as mining, construction and agriculture. Such industries are keen to decarbonise their operations, and switching to electric vehicles is seen as a key step.

Munro has established a production line in East Kilbride, becoming the first company to make cars in Scotland since the Linwood plant near Paisley was closed in 1981.
