A far-right activist posed as a Home Office inspector to target a Scottish asylum hotel, including plots to tamper with the building’s power and water.

A receptionist at the Station Hotel in Dumfries, which has a contract to accommodate Ukrainian asylum seekers, was targeted by a man claiming to be from the Home Office in September, according to internal Scottish government emails seen by The Ferret, an investigative journalism website.

The man obtained information about the number of guests, their meals, and their access to leisure facilities. Officials warned that a video of the incident published on social media might “incite local unrest” if it was not addressed promptly.
