Death toll includes 70 people who are said to have died in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp on Christmas Eve

Gaza suffered one of the deadliest nights of the war on Christmas Eve with more than 100 people killed in intensified strikes, including at least 70 that Palestinian health officials said had died in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp.

A mass funeral was held on Christmas morning with white shrouds containing the bodies of the dead lined up in Maghazi, in central Gaza. “The strikes were at 2am,” one man wept as he hugged a dead child. “The walls and the curtains fell on us. I reached down to my four-year-old child but all I found were rocks.”
