This week’s historic agreement at the Cop28 conference has seen almost 200 countries vow to “transition away” from fossil fuels for the first time. Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber, the Dubai Cop28 president, told delegates: “We have delivered a paradigm shift that has the potential to redefine our economies.”

With 2023 the warmest year on record, the accord will boost fresh investment in the burgeoning “cleantech” sector. As well as helping to tackle climate change, cleantech — short for “clean technology” — refers to any company and technology which reduces environmental damage from existing technologies or improves the environmental quality of polluted natural resources.
