Jerome Forde bounds across the HR Duo offices in Dunshaughlin with an extended arm. His hands are as big as shovels and the grip of his handshake is strong. At 57 years of age, 6ft 4in in height and with the broadness of a rugby player, Forde isn’t your stereotypical budding technology entrepreneur. He is not even wearing runners.

Yet the Limerick man — whose CV includes lengthy stints as head of HR at AIB and the Archdiocese of Dublin — sits atop a tech company that has the wind in its sails.

This time last year HR Duo, which provides human resources software to small and medium-sized enterprises, announced a series A fundraising round of €4.5 million, led by Puma Private Equity, a
