Donald Trump’s family have said his fleeting mention in nearly 1,000 pages of court documents related to the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein is definitive proof that the former president never took part in “child molestation”.

The former president’s son Donald Jr decried what he suggested was a political effort to embroil Trump, who is the Republican frontrunner for the presidential nomination, in Epstein’s crimes. Both were accused in 2016 of having sexually abused a 13-year-old aspiring model.

The unidentified woman’s civil court claims that she had been abused by the men at Epstein’s Manhattan home in 1994 were dismissed by two judges. A further claim was dropped after her lawyer claimed the woman received threats. Trump’s lawyers denied the allegations.
