The family of a black boy who drowned after being allegedly pushed into a river by another teenager suffered “horrific” racist abuse in their Welsh village, an inquest was told.

Christopher Kapessa, 13, died on July 1, 2019, after being allegedly pushed into the River Cynon in south Wales by a 14-year-old boy in the year above him at school. His family said they felt failed by the local police force after making complaints about the abused they suffered.

They had been with a group of friends playing by a bridge near Mountain Ash, in Rhondda Cynon Taff, on a hot Monday afternoon.
