A leading engineer has become the third senior figure to leave the FIA in the past month. The departing names may not be familiar but their exits shine fresh light on the chaos that is unfolding at Formula 1’s governing body.

The departure of Tim Goss, the technical director, was announced by the FIA on Monday, coming swiftly after the past month’s exits of Steve Nielsen, the sporting director, and Deborah Mayer, the president of the Women in Motorsport Commission.

It is understood that Mayer decided not to reapply for the position after her term came to an end, although there has been no official comment about her departure, while Goss and Nielsen were thought to be frustrated by the inner workings of the organisation.
