More than 8,000 people downloaded Q102 and Virgin Radio UK through Irish app stores last week as Ryan Tubridy returned to the airwaves with his new mid-morning show in London.

The Ryan Tubridy Show launched on both stations, which are owned by News UK, last Tuesday. He welcomed guests including Russell Crowe and Conan O’Brien last week. The show, which focuses on a mix of music, engaging chats, celebrity guests and listener interaction, runs between 10am and 1pm on weekdays.

Sensor Tower, a market intelligence firm, said there were more than 8,000 downloads of the Virgin Radio UK and Q102 apps in Ireland from Monday to Friday last week, more than triple the total for those apps in the preceding five days. Both were also
