The pipeline from one of Germany’s new floating gas import terminals has been damaged, with at least three holes drilled through the casing in what appears to be an act of sabotage.

It is the latest in a spate of incidents damaging the country’s infrastructure, including an arson attack on a Berlin cement factory, the cutting of railway communications cables and the underwater bombing of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines at the bottom of the Baltic Sea last year.

The holes were identified along the 35-mile pipeline that connects a liquid natural gas (LNG) processing ship at Brunsbüttel, on the North Sea coast, to the national gas grid.
