The fashion favourites are on the front foot again thanks to Gucci, Saint Laurent, Versace and Valentino. Here’s our selection from the high street

Gucci’s cool new creative director, Sabato De Sarno, put them on the brand’s spring/summer 2024 catwalk. Models wore them on the runways at Saint Laurent, Versace and Valentino too. The shoe every style soothsayer says you need to bookmark now is one you probably already have hiding in a cupboard. So get ahead of next year’s trend by digging out your slingbacks.
Coco Chanel designed her two-tone originals in 1957. Nearly seven decades later, this slinky pump is still a firm fashion favourite. Hers came with a block heel, but 2024’s sharpest have low, spiked kittens. Pointed toe varieties will give your look extra polish, ditto those in patent leather.
