Among the nearly thousand pages of court documents released by a New York judge last week, the public picked up on the names of the rich and powerful who had dealings with the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Dubbed The Epstein List and released thanks to the tenacity of the Miami Herald, the documents contain sworn depositions of multiple women who accused him of having sexually abused them.

Other than the names, what figure prominently in the depositions are Epstein’s many properties, from his townhouse in Manhattan to his private islands in the Caribbean. These homes were the face of Epstein’s enormous wealth but also, allegedly, the setting of unspeakable crimes towards underage girls and young women.
