Scotland’s booming film industry is forecast to enjoy a record-breaking year after decisions by global streaming giants to recommission successful TV series made in the country.

Hits such as Outlander and Good Omens, which are both shown on Amazon Prime, and Apple TV’s The Buccaneers have all announced new productions for 2024.

Isabel Davis, executive director of Screen Scotland, said the extraordinary growth in the number of studios and production facilities across the country was creating “a critical mass” of readily available technical expertise.

This is helping to drive an “incredibly busy” phase for the industry in Scotland, she said.
