TikTok users are rediscovering the art of colour analysis — and buying fewer clothes as a result

It’s a fashion trend reminiscent of the Eighties — but Gen Z is bringing it back, thanks to TikTok filters and a desire for a more sustainable, long-lasting wardrobe.

Getting your “colours done” is where a person is sorted into four colour “seasons”, based on which colours suit them most. The trend has captured the imaginations of young people on TikTok, with #coloranalysis amassing 1.4 billion views on the app.

The aim of finding your colour “season” is to find the colours that make your natural features stand out. In theory, when wearing these colours, eye bags should look less pronounced, skin clearer and eyes more “sparkly”.
